Chronic pain that doesn't ease. Sleep that stops working. A nervous system stuck on high alert. Breakwater Wellness offers an unhurried, evidence-informed acupuncture practice in St Margarets Bay, where slowing down is part of the medicine.
Our approach
Your body has carried information about itself for a long time. Acupuncture is one of the oldest tools we have for listening back, used to regulate the nervous system, calm inflammation, restore sleep, ease pain, and bring the body's own healing capacity back into the room. Every visit starts with a real conversation, because understanding your full picture is part of the treatment.

Acupuncture works in courses, not single visits. Here is how a typical relationship unfolds at Breakwater.
New to acupuncture or unsure if it fits? Reach out by phone, text or email. We'll talk about what's going on for you and whether this is the right kind of care, no pressure to book.
A full intake covering your health history, current concerns and what you want out of treatment. We then move into the treatment itself, with needles retained for 20 to 30 minutes while you rest.
After your first session we map out a realistic plan based on what we found and what you're working on. Many people feel shifts in the first few visits. We adjust as your body responds.
Once your acute concerns settle, many clients shift into seasonal or monthly tune-ups, the same way you'd care for any system you want to keep running well.

Common questions
A few of the questions we get asked most often. If yours isn't here, just reach out.
Most people are surprised by how subtle it is. The needles we use are roughly the width of a strand of hair, far finer than a hypodermic needle. Some points produce a brief dull ache or warmth that fades within seconds, which is part of how the treatment works.
It depends on what you're working with and how long it's been there. Acute issues often respond in two to four visits, chronic patterns usually need a longer course. We map out a realistic plan after your first session and revisit it as your body responds.
Yes. Acupuncture is a registered health service in Nova Scotia and most extended health plans include it. We can direct-bill many major insurers, including for cosmetic acupuncture. Bring your card and we'll confirm coverage at your visit.
Loose, comfortable clothing that can be moved above the elbows and knees. If you're coming for cupping or back work, a tank top and shorts in your bag is useful. We always have draping for privacy.
Acupuncture is used for a broad range of complaints, from pain and headaches to anxiety, sleep, digestion, hormonal and reproductive health. Rather than guessing, book a discovery call and we'll be straight with you about what's likely to help and what isn't.
Treatment plans are not templated. Every intake is a real conversation, every protocol is built from what we find that day. We work in courses of care, not one-off appointments, and we tell you honestly when something is outside our scope.
